Katie Wildwood

Originally from California, I moved to Charlottesville after completing six years in the Air Force. My journey here has been a unique blend of service, education, and discovery. During my time as an Operations Intelligence Analyst, I gained a global perspective and analytical skills that sparked a deeper interest in understanding people and how they interact within systems. While working as an Army contractor, I decided to resume my pursuit of a bachelor’s degree.

I wrapped up my general education credits, left my job, and returned to school full-time. Driven by my passion for understanding human behavior, I decided to study sociology in combination with foreign affairs using the international experience I gained in the Air Force. Together, these fields broadened my understanding of people, culture, and the forces that shape interactions on both personal and global scales.

After attending an info session for the Commerce School’s master’s program, I was immediately drawn to the concept of marketing. As someone with a strong creative side, I loved how marketing would allow me to fuse my passion for people with a business focus. Marketing has since become the perfect channel for me to combine creativity with strategic thinking, equipping me with the tools to help businesses achieve meaningful, results-driven goals.

I am a literature enthusiast eager to assist small businesses in the editing and revising process to ensure their message is as clearly communicated as possible. With a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Virginia as well as a master’s in education specializing in reading instruction, I excel at the editorial process and can easily harness skills such as proofreading, storytelling, and strong attention to detail. Additionally, with over six years in customer service, I offer a judgement-free attitude with which anyone can feel comfortable workshopping their written projects in a calm and welcoming environment. I am so excited about an opportunity to empower small business owners through their writing and I would love to help in any way possible!

The Story Behind “Two Souls”

The name "Two Souls" first came to me when I was launching a small dried flower business focused on weddings. I was captivated by the concept of two individuals’ souls uniting, and I loved the idea that I could play a small role in such an impactful moment. However, when I began my master’s program, the demands of my studies proved too rigorous to balance with running a business, and I reluctantly had to let it go. Yet, the essence of Two Souls has never truly left my heart.

As a business owner, you understand that a venture becomes an extension of yourself—much like nurturing a child, it requires daily care and attention. It often feels as though your business develops its own soul, to continuously nourish and grow.

When it came time to launch this new business, the Two Souls branding felt like the perfect fit. It beautifully encapsulates the relationship between your unique essence and the soul of the business itself. Both are distinct yet deeply intertwined, creating a harmonious synergy.

I want my clients to experience and understand that both their individual spirit and the spirit of the business are enriched through my services.

I incorporate the imagery of a snake in my branding because it symbolizes transformation, renewal, and rebirth. Just as a snake sheds its skin, I strive to help your business undergo a meaningful transformation in the ways you envision. My goal is to revitalize your brand and breathe new life into it.

Degrees & Certifications

  • In this program, I learned to conduct brand analyses and make strategic recommendations to enhance customer value and revenue. I developed skills in project management for global teams, including scope, scheduling, and vendor coordination. I also learned to design integrated web and social marketing strategies, incorporate consumer behavior insights for effective pricing and marketing, and manage B2B marketing and strategic alliances.

  • With my BA in Sociology and Foreign Affairs, I learned to understand how social structures and international politics shape the world. Sociology taught me to analyze social behaviors, group structures and their implications, and institutions, while my foreign affairs studies deepened my understanding of global politics, diplomacy, and conflict. This combination helped me build critical thinking, cultural awareness, and policy analysis skills that I can apply in government, non-profits, or international organizations.

  • This degree taught me the essentials of intelligence gathering, including collection methods, data analysis, and visualization techniques. It provided training in geopolitical analysis, threat assessment, cyber intelligence, and information security. Additionally, it emphasized report writing, briefing skills, and understanding the ethical considerations in intelligence operations.

  • Having completed the Critical Thinking and Analysis training unit in the Air Force, I significantly enhanced my decision-making skills. It taught me to approach problems with a critical mindset, using structured problem-solving techniques and improved analytical abilities to assess information effectively.

    The collaborative exercises fostered team communication and creative thinking, while practical scenarios prepared me for real-life challenges. Discussions on ethics reinforced the importance of integrity in my decisions.

While my sociology degree from UVa gave me a deep understanding of people and behavior, it was my master’s in marketing that truly provided the tools to apply these insights to business and sales.
